Harry has shown his bravery. He should use it to stop blaming Charles for his problems

Speaking of the damage done to him as a young royal in a 2021 podcast, The Armchair Expert, however, Harry seemed intent on pointing out Charles's appalling failings. 'When it comes to parenting, if I've experienced some form of pain or suffering because of the pain or suffering that perhaps my father or my parents had suffered, I'm going to make sure I break that cycle,' he said. Doubling down on this psychobabble narrative later, Harry spoke of the 'genetic pain' that was passed on to him, and added that parents should be trying to stop that happening. I hope the therapist who fed him the (deeply unhelpful) term 'genetic pain' explained that he wasn't condemned to suffer from this affliction for life. I hope that at least one of the army of therapists Harry has presumably been seeing since moving to California has explained that parenting is an imperfect science, that everyone messes up in one way or another, and that there's an expiry date on the parental blame game. Let's say, 40, shall we? And that's being generous. Because at that point, as a probable parent yourself, you really need to have acquired a new compassion and understanding for your own parents. You should also be holding yourself accountable for any shortcomings. And by the way, as a parent, you too will fall short in any number of areas. You just have to hope that Archie and Lilibet won't still be holding those things against you when they're middle-aged. Most importantly, I'd hope that any therapist worth their salt would emphasise how unhappy blaming others will ultimately make you. How unrewarding blame is; how it hollows you out. Harry doesn't ever have to take up royal duties again. He doesn't ever have to move back from La La Land or even stop peddling nonsense to Netflix. But if this really is a 'reset', he will now need to call time on pointing out his family's failings, take responsibility for his own actions and do whatever it takes to heal that rift before it's too late.
